Two Weeks Training Down!

School is out and I am back! I am happy to report that I am able to run to Granby High School and back without stopping! That is approximately 2 miles! That is also a first for me. Since my last post, I've learned a lot about running and my diet. We'll start with running...my left foot overpronates...the current running shoes I own are for nonmoveability which is apparently frowned upon by the running experts...I should only wear socks without cotton, otherwise I'll work a nasty blister...my running clothes should be made of all technical material...drink plenty of water, but at some point during the 1/2 marathon I will need to switch to a gel to replace electrolytes because water doesn't do that...there is a such thing as running etiquette...Jeff's ipod is trying to kill me (I'll explain later).

Now, about my diet. I'm a moon-pie and coca-cola kinda gal, so needless to say I've had to adjust my eating habits. Runners Inc says I should eat my weight times 13 in calories minus 500 calories per day to loose weight. I should eat 50% carbs, 25% protein and 25% fat. Two weeks ago my diet was 50% carbs and 50% fat! Runners Inc also says that I should eat carbs before and after a run. HOWEVER, Active.com says I should drink a glass of chocolate milk after a run to balance out the fat/protein ratio. I like that Active.com! So, instead of eating a fudge round and a Pepsi for breakfast, I am eating Cheerios. For lunch, it's more like chicken and fruit instead of pizza or a burger. Dinner, I'm choosing pork over more pizza and burgers. I've cut my sodas from 4 a day to 1 a day. I CANNOT believe I am posting this!!! I know you are thinking right now, "How is it that she is not a 3 ton blob of lovin???" Well, I don't eat a lot. It's just that what I eat is really bad.

I decided to try out my new Pro/Grid Soucony Running Shoes! Not good. I immediately felt cramps from my ankles to the tops of my quads. What is that all about? I will have to ask the running guru at Running Etc. Unfortunately, I had to stop my run short in fear of pulling something and totally taking myself out the picture. I will try again this afternoon.

Now, about Jeff's ipod. I've decided that the mind-numbing techno beat is just that...mind numbing with a constant beat that keeps my pace. But I have to scroll through some songs like Samantha Fox's "Love House" are you ready to do things tonight that you never dreamed were possible...Let's go! or Glam's "Sex Drive" people are still having sex, its been going on for quite a while, perhaps it's quite fashionable, it hasn't gone out of style... to find the right one. Just as I decided to turn around with my tale tucked and shorten my run The Beatles comes on with "Carry that Weight" boy you're gonna carry that weight, carry that weight a long time...ARE YOU KIDDING ME??? That's it! I'm getting my own ipod with my own music! Song recommendations are welcome!
